About the FCCC President
Nina Tamrowski, a Professor of Political Science at Onondaga Community College, was elected President of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges in April 2015. As President, she serves as an ex-officio member of the SUNY Board of Trustees. Professor Tamrowski served as Secretary of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges from 2011 - 2013, and as Vice-President from 2013 - 2015. She has been the Delegate from Onondaga Community College to the Faculty Council of Community Colleges since 2009. She has been an active member of the FCCC Governance Committee and has served as the liaison to the University Faculty Senate's Governance committee since 2009.
Professor Tamrowski has taught at Onondaga Community College since 1993. She served four years as the Chair of the Social Sciences and Philosophy Department. She has been a member of the Faculty Executive Committee since 2009. She was a founding co-chair of Onondaga's Service-Learning Committee and served in that role for seven years. She is a past chair of the college's Curriculum Committee. She has also been involved with the Women's Studies Committee, the International Education Committee, the OCCC Federation's Executive Committee, the ad hoc Committee on Shared Governance and was one of four faculty members on the 2013 Presidential Search Committee. From 1999 - 2001, she was the Executive Director of OCC's Student Government Organization. She is also a past president of the League of Women Voters on the Syracuse Metropolitan Area.
Professor Tamrowski received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service in Spring 2015. Her accomplishments have been recognized through her many awards including the International Center’s International Educator of the Year Award (November 2014), Trustee’s Award (May 2013), the Ann Felton Multi-Cultural Award (December 2005), YWCA Diversity Achiever's Award (April 2004), OSSA Faculty of the Year Award (May 2002), and a Resolution of Appreciation from OCC Board of Trustees (May 2002).
The FCCC Executive Committee
The Executive Committee of the Faculty Council of Community College is comprised of the FCCC Officers (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary), the past President, the Chairs of the FCCC committees, the Information Officer (ex officio), and the Press Officer (ex officio).
The Executive Commitee meets regularly to discuss relevant issues, set agendas, plan for plenary and other meetings, develop goals and initiatives, review the FCCC budget, and respond to concerns of the membership.
